How I helped: When Dr Julie Llewelyn became High Sheriff of Surrey 2021-22, she had plenty to write about but little time. I devised a system to help her capture and write news of her visits soon after they happened.
Client
Dr Julie Llewelyn was the 800th High Sheriff of Surrey and the 10th woman to hold the ancient post appointed by the Sovereign.
Challenge
With a packed schedule of at least three visits daily, Dr Llewelyn had plenty to write about but little time. Nevertheless, she wanted content for the newsletter written and captured on the High Sheriff’s website soon after each visit.
Action
To ease the strain on Dr Llewelyn’s schedule and prevent a backlog, I devised a newsletter writing service where I pre-wrote the week’s news, working closely with the web developer and social media manager. Dr Llewelyn would take the draft with her, making notes directly onto the printout, which she then scanned and sent to me for editing or rewriting.
Result
Dr Llewelyn could focus on her ancient role while her team worked together to write and distribute the newsletter. Digital magazines for In Your Area, Hello!, and The County Chronicle were among many who picked up our stories.
