How I helped: I worked with Arthaus’s designers to create an engaging showcase presentation that improved the user experience for a banking client’s employees.

Client

Harmer Editorial has written and edited copy for the multi-disciplined design agency Arthaus since 2018. I’ve built a lasting relationship with the agency, which has similarly painstaking attitudes to content.

Challenge

The global bank client had written a rough draft of a showcase presentation and a video to its employees. Arthaus was redesigning both pieces of content but feared that the text was overwritten and would fail to connect with users. So, Arthaus asked me to edit and, if necessary, rewrite the content to make it appeal to the audience’s emotions.

Action

Our senses and emotions shape how we think, inspiring action. So, to address the issue Arthaus had pinpointed, I radically cut the original text-heavy content. I rewrote the copy to make it more succinct. Then, I introduced subtle, emotive words such as ‘feel’, ‘touch’ and ‘sensation’ to create a personal, engaging tone.

Result

Together with Arthaus, we created synchronised content and design for the video storyboards and a PowerPoint presentation that portrayed an immersive learning experience. As a result, the bank gave us positive feedback – and the agency gained further work.
