Subbing and proofreading help Paragon maintain standards
Sector: Customer communications
Client: Paragon
Services: Sub-editing and proofreading
How I help:
Sub editing, proofreading and guidance positively impact the quality of the group’s reports and other content.
Client
Paragon is a customer communications leader that simplifies complex information and enhances how brands communicate with customers. It became a Harmer Editorial client in 2023, with sub-editing and proofreading my main services.
Challenge
The marketing team sought a sub-editor and proofreader who would apply the same high standards to each editorial task as Paragon, supporting the team with additional resources as required.
Action
Whether subbing an ESG report or proofreading the group’s annual report, I get up to speed with house style before starting each job. I begin by reading the text word by word, then revise, improve and correct it to the client’s guidelines. On PDF proofs, I fix anything wrong using Adobe’s correction tools.
Result
When sub-editing or proofreading, I don’t rush, but I am a nit-picker. I can focus on copy and proofs for long periods. The result is that Paragon receives amended and corrected text and PDFs that are as accurate as possible – and delivered promptly. I’m the first and last line of defence, helping maintain and improve Paragon’s reputation for quality.
Testimonial
We can see why one of our team recommended Alison to us. Her rigorous editing, proofreading, input and guidance have significantly impacted the quality of our final reports. She also proved flexible when proofs were pushed back and excels at the tricky task of editing content drafted by various people for whom English isn’t their first language.
