An editor’s keen eye leads to robust IoIC factsheets
Sector: Membership organisation
Client: Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC)
Services: Editing factsheets
How I helped: As an editor, I used my eye for detail to produce unbiased factsheets for IoIC members.
Client
The Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC) is a membership organisation for IC professionals based in Milton Keynes. Alison Harmer is an editor and corporate writer who is a long-time member of the IoIC (since it was the British Association of Industrial Editors). I became an IoIC Fellow in 2006 and have been a regular judge in the IoIC awards. Periodically, the IoIC has used other editorial services.
Challenge
In 2022, the IoIC needed one of its Fellows to review three factsheets and approve the sources before publication. It wanted to be confident that unbiased, sound knowledge sources underpinned the information provided before adding them to its knowledge bank for members.
Action
As an editor and a member, the IoIC asked me to copy-edit the factsheets and add my feedback on the content’s suitability, relevancy and standard. Thoroughly edited and scrutinised factsheets are now in the knowledge bank.
Result
My input means IoIC members receive relevant, innovative, high-quality advice that keeps them updated with trends and opinions that increase their knowledge and understanding of IC topics.
