Are copy editors and sub-editors the same?

In the UK, the copy editor revises and corrects text to make it more readable. Book publishers are the main hirers. By comparison, a sub-editor improves content mostly in newspapers and magazines, including online.

What makes me the ideal editor and proofreader?

Training – After my journalism-based BA in Media Studies, I honed my skills at the British Printing Industries Federation. In 2020, I earned a Proofreading and Editing Diploma from the College of Media and Publishing. Explore my background.
Experience – I was deputy sub-editor at one internal communications agency and chief sub-editor at another for 16 years. Since 2014, I’ve racked up 3,123 hours as a freelance editor and proofreader.
