I can give you breathing space when you’re up against it. Because editing copy and correcting proofs for snowed-under clients is my speciality – and a favourite task.

Most of all, you can rely on my attention to detail, enabling me to catch errors in the following:

  • AI-generated copy
  • Magazines
  • Webpages
  • Intranet pages
  • Marketing material
  • Reports (annual, ESG, etc.)

  • Directories

  • Slide presentations

Let me make every text you give me as word-perfect as possible, from checking spelling and grammar to ensuring that headlines work, captions aren’t missing and text lines up.

Are copy editors and sub-editors the same?

In the UK, the copy editor revises and corrects text to make it more readable. Book publishers are the main hirers. By comparison, a sub-editor improves content mostly in newspapers and magazines, including online.

However, is there more to it than that? Yes! That’s why I’ve written a blog on the differences between editing and proofreading to clarify expectations. It will help you avoid misunderstandings and save on costs.

What makes me the ideal editor and proofreader?

  • Training – After my journalism-based BA in Media Studies, I honed my skills at the British Printing Industries Federation. In 2020, I earned a Proofreading and Editing Diploma from the College of Media and Publishing. Explore my background.

  • Experience – I was deputy sub-editor at one internal communications agency and chief sub-editor at another for 16 years. Since 2014, I’ve racked up 3,123 hours as a freelance editor and proofreader.

  • Standards – To become a Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) professional member, I proved I have reached exceptional standards in the field through training, skills and work experience.

  • Time management – Clients continually praise my ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Availability – I will always tell you whether I am available.

Is your project too big for one? I bring trusted subcontractors on board to assist in outsized projects.
